This post will come in segments because it would take all day to write. I just finished reading a book about the first forty years of my great Grandpa Lauson's life. ...Spencer Norman Lauson was born in 1901,the sixth child of eight,in South Dakota and a couple months later the family moved to North Dakota but it was a hard life and they moved to Billings Montana in time for winter. His first 12 years of life the whole family worked to survive. In 1914 his father died. His five older brothers went to town to find jobs and Bill, as everyone called him, helped his mother at home. He was facinated by geography as a kid in a one room school house and resolved to visit the places he read about. That took a while to write so that's all for today.

It is exciting for me to know you are reading about Grandpa Lauson. He was a real pioneer in many ways and lived a life full of adventure, even to the ripe old age of 96! And he LOVED Montana, just like you do. I am looking forward to the next installment but will be traveling for the next few days and may have to catch up when I get back. We are also looking forward to seeing you in Montana soon.
