First deer!!!!!!!

Ok, so my dad wants me to tell the story of how I shot my first deer. Here goes...

In November I flew out to Montana to hunt elk and deer. I arived about about one on thursday afternoon and was picked up by my Grandpa. We got my license and tags then Grandpa worked for a couple hours. We went to bible study and when we got home it was nine. we were up till ten getting ready to leave. We got up early the next morning and drove four hours hours up into the Crazy mountains. We got there about nine A.M.and unloaded. We were staying at a friends cabin and as we unloaded it started to snow. Since there was already three inches it resulted in fresh tracking snow.we started hunting about ten A.M. After about an hour we cut fresh elk tracks Grandpa had an idea where he might be bedded down and we hunted it hard. As we were looking I saw elk moving through the timber. I pointed them out and Grandpa fired over the back of one. I could not find them in the scope,Grandpa realized it was on nine power and cranked it down but they had already ran. We hunted hard all day and saw elk but did not get a shot off. As we were hiking back to camp I shot over the back of a mule deer. My uncle Jake hunted with us for a day. Early on we saw deer but they disappeared. Later as we were hiking uncle Jake saw a mule deer buck. We ate lunch in some trees. After lunch we split up. Uncle Jake sat on a knob and Grandpa took me on a big loop through some timber. As we were walking we heard two shots and then a bit later cut people tracks Grandpa put me on a little hill and went looking for uncle Jake. As I sat there waiting for Grandpa to come back I heard a thumping sort of noise and so I got ready and a deer ran out I pulled the trigger and the deer fell over. Grandpa came back with uncle Jake about five to ten minutes later and we cleaned the deer out. The shots we had heard earlier were uncle Jake killing a grouse. We hunted four more days and another person came up and shot a cow elk but neither Grandpa or I shot an elk. I flew back to Philadelphia on Thanksgiving day. My grandpa went back up in December and killed a cow elk.

Well there it is. That's how I killed my first deer.

In the Jewish tradition, at around your age, the boy becomes a man in the Jewish Community when he has a Bar Mitzvah. This is a ceremony where he basically leads the services on Saturday mourning. I guess shooting a Deer is like the Montana Christian Hick version of a Bar Mitzvah. Congratulations on becoming a man!
